Thank you very much…

…for taking the time to review important policy information.  After 30+ years of teaching piano, Jaime has learned a few important lessons that benefit students and teacher.  Jaime very much wants ensure her relationship with students and parents is stress-free and fair.

Lesson Schedule and Fees

The 10 month piano “school year” begins in mid-September and continues until the end of June. Summer lessons are also available on a casual, pay-as-you-go basis. Jaime happily accepts new students at any point during the year. She puts many hours into creating a timetable that works for students, and also accommodates the complexities of traveling from home to home.

The way Jaime charges for lessons is with a flat rate structure. Flat rate billing takes the total number of lessons for the whole year and divides by the number of months so that the monthly rate averages out to be the same, regardless of how many lessons are given that month. Every September, Jaime sits down with the calendar and plans the upcoming year. The way the calendar falls with regards to holidays makes each year a bit different. Lessons are not offered on Statutory holidays, spring break and winter break. This is reflected in the fee structure, as you are not charged for those weeks. Therefore, students who have lessons on Mondays pay a lower monthly fee due to the many stat holidays that fall on Mondays.

Monthly fees are due on the first of each month and can be paid via e-transfer.

Withdrawal

Please provide a written notice of your intention to withdraw a minimum of 30 days prior.  In lieu of 30 days notice, a cancellation fee equal to the cost of four lessons will be charged.

Other Considerations

In order for Jaime and her students to make the most of their lesson time together, it is essential that the lesson take place in a quiet area, free from distraction. This can be a bit of a challenge in busy households but time that is lost when both student and teacher cannot concentrate will negatively impact a student’s progress. You might be surprised how loud clanging dishes are when the piano room is right next to the kitchen!

Jaime has a strong sensitivity to scents. It would help her immensely if you would kindly remove air fresheners from the space where she will be teaching. Thank you so much!
